Get your reading done on the commute

Hear the articles, reports and books you saved while you drive, ride or walk, with the voice on your iPhone and your hands free.

Short answer

Share what you want to read during the day, then press play when you leave. You keep listening offline through tunnels and subways, and you pause, play and skip from the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island without unlocking.

You already carry a reading list: tabs you meant to finish, a PDF from work, a book you started in the summer. A 45-minute commute each way gives you 90 minutes a day to hear it.

Fill your shelf before you leave

Share pages and files to Aloudeo as you find them during the day. They wait on your shelf, filed in Articles, Papers, Books, Documents and Notes, with the listening time for each one at your speed.

Press play and put the phone away

  • Download your voice once and keep listening in tunnels and on the subway.
  • Lock the phone: the sentence you hear shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with play, pause and skip.
  • Play a whole folder in order and the next item starts on its own.

Plan with real numbers

At about 165 words a minute:

CommuteAt 1xAt 1.5x
20 minutes3,300 words4,950 words
45 minutes7,400 words11,100 words
1 hour9,900 words14,850 words

Try your own numbers in the listening time calculator.

Stay safe

Keep your eyes on the road. Start the voice before you drive and use your car's or your earbuds' buttons to pause and skip.

Questions you ask about this

Does it work with CarPlay?
You hear it through your car speakers like any audio app, and the play and skip buttons on your steering wheel work. You won't find an Aloudeo screen in CarPlay yet.
What if I lose signal in a tunnel?
You keep listening. Your saved pages and the voices sit on your phone, so a tunnel changes nothing.
How much can I hear on a 45-minute commute?
About 7,400 words each way at 1x, close to a long magazine feature. At 1.5x, about 11,000 words.
