Reading along while you listen keeps your eyes and your ears on the same line. You stop drifting, you catch the names you would mishear, and you can glance down after a phone call and see exactly where the voice is.
Watch the sentence move
Press play on anything on your shelf. The sentence you hear turns violet on a lavender wash, the same color in light and dark mode, and the page scrolls so it stays in view.
The highlight works sentence by sentence:
| What you do | What happens |
|---|---|
| Press play | The current sentence lights up and the voice starts |
| Tap another sentence | The voice jumps there and keeps going |
| Press back once | The paragraph starts again |
| Press back twice | The paragraph before starts |
| Press forward | The next paragraph starts |
Keep whole sentences together
A reader that splits sentences at every period stops after "Mr." and starts again at "Bennet". In Aloudeo, titles, initials and abbreviations stay inside their sentence, so "Mr. Bennet", "J. K. Rowling" and "U.S. Army" stay one breath, and the highlight covers the whole sentence.
See it on your Lock Screen
Lock your iPhone and the sentence you hear moves to a card on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with play, pause, back and forward. Tap the card to open the page where the voice is.
Where it stops
- The highlight lights sentences, not single words.
- On a scanned page, it can only light the text your iPhone recognized.
- A table or a formula has no sentence to say, so the voice skips it and the highlight moves to the next paragraph.
